In this book the story behind the liars "spring break trip to Jamaica gone wrong" is revealed. While on the trip the girls thought they met what was Ali pretending to be someone else, but it really was someone else. in fear of her killing one of them, they accidently killed her in the process of defending themselves. They vowed to never tell the truth about what happened that night in Jamaica, even when they started to get mysterious postcards from "A".   Aria goes on a ski trip with her boyfriend and his new live-in drop dead gorgeous transfer student, Klaudia, who says shes from Finland but speaks perfect english and intends on making a move on Noel whenever she can. Hannah's father begins his campaign for senator, during a photoshoot Hannah is complimented by a handsome photographer who says he would love to shoot some pictures of her sometime. Hannah eagerly agrees, but soon finds herself in trouble when she must come up with 5,000$ our else some "not so nice" photos of hannah will be everywhere and her fathers campaign will be ruined. Emily makes a new friends named Chloe whose father can pull some strings and get Emily a swimming scholarship, but he would also like to pull some other "Strings" particularly Emily's. When Chloe finds out about this she gets the wrong idea and begins to hate Emily, even though Emily shared her darkest secret with her, you know the one about Emily getting pregnant with Issac's baby and keeping it from her parents. When his life is in danger because of his own father she spills the secret and he hates her for getting hi shipped off to military school. And Finally when the girls her word that a dead body has been found off the coast of Jamaica, they pray its not the girl they thought was Ali, but it's identified to be just that.
