The Perks of being a Wallflower by: Stephen Chbosky

the perks of being a wallflower as most of you know is a coming of age story about a boy named charlie. The entire book is the letter's charlie is writing to a friend whose name you never know. Charlie mentions in the beginning of the book that last year in his last year of middle school his only friend Michael died. When Charlie goes off to high school for the first time he meets two friends that seem somewhat troublesome. There names are Sam and Patrick. Sam and Patrick are both seniors and don't have many friends themselves. The friend that they do have are much like them. Sam and Patrick smoke and that's when they met charlie. One night they take Charlie to a party and a man there gave them brownies containing drugs, but Charlie didn't know that and ate many of them and got "wasted". Charlie didn't know what to do and had a small melt down but the next day he was fine. Charlie also likes Sam because she is very pretty but Sam told him not to think about her that way because she didn't want him wasting his time liking her when he could go out with someone else. Another thing about  charlie is when he was very young his aunt Helen died. this was hard for him because she was the only one who ever told him that h was special, through out his entire family he just seems average to everyone else. Through out the book Charlie runs into tough decisions, drugs, drinking, and difficult friendships. this book as many people say is a Breakfast Club for the new millenium and could be the next Rocky Horror Picture Show. I would defiantly recommend this book for you and all your friends. I would probably give this book a 5 out of 5 stars.

Corline By: Neil Gaimen

The original book Coraline, as it is in most cases, was much different then the animated movie Coraline by: Tim Burton. The book, depending how vivid of an imagination you have, was much scarier than the movie, it also had many similarities with the movie. As you know if you have seen the movie the book about a young girl named Coraline who moves with her mother and father, who sometimes tend to forget her when they are preoccupied with work, to an Apartment building where they own one of the flats. Coraline is bored and spends most of her summer wondering outside in the garden near the old well is. But one day when it was raining, Coraline become very curios of the small door in the drawing room, and where it went to, and what was behind it. she asked her mother about it and so she got a ring of keys from a hook in the kitchen and picked the oldest and rustiest one out to unlock the door. when the door was finally open it just opened to a brick wall. That night Coraline dreamed that a small rat like creature lead her to the door and when she walked through it it lead to a flat set up exactly like hers but better. as if it were a parallel universe. She had another mother and father even. But there was something different about them and there eye's. they had button eye's.  Coraline found this particularly scary. the next morning when she woke up she told her mother all about the dream and how real it seemed even thought her mother kept saying that it was just a dream. the same thing happened the next night. the day after that Coraline's parents went grocery shopping and left her home alone. She just knew that the door led to another flat instead of just a brick wall so she got the keys down from the hook and went into the "other" flat. this time while being with her other parents they asked her if they could sew buttons on her eye's. she said no and got into a terrible fight with her other mother who threw her through the wall into a small room and told her she may come out when she learns to be a loving daughter. While she was in there three small ghost children came to her and told her to be quiet because the other mother can hear them. they told her they let her sew the button eyes on her and she killed them for herself. when the ghost children had left Coraline fell asleep in the small room. when she had awaken and was taken out she went home into her real flat but her parents where nowhere to be found. the next morning they still weren't back. Coraline went downstairs to the flat of the two old ladies who read her tea leaves and said she was in great danger. they gave her a small triangle with a hole in the middle and told her it was good for lost things. Coraline went back to the other flat and challenged the other mother to a game: to find the eye's of all the ghost children and her parents. in the end she won and lived a happy happy life. all and all i would defiantly say it was a great book and would defiantly recommend you read it. it would probably give this book a 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.

A Series of Unfortunate Events By: Lemony Snicket (books 4-6)

In book #4: the Miserable Mill Mr. Poe tells the Baudelaire orphans that they will be living in a lumber mill owned by there new guardian  the children begin to get excited thinking that Violet will have a chance to study the machines in the mill, and Klaus may have a chance to read many books if the mill has a library, and sunny to find some wood to chew on but instead they end up working at the mill. when they arrive at the mill a nice man who lives in the house that all the workers live in shows them around and introduces them to everyone. the next morning they woke up very early, and weren't given any breakfast and were put right to work in the mill. while working at the mill they are treated very badly. they get gum for lunch and only get paid in coupons. they go to speak with the owner who is supposed to be there guardian not there boss but he is very stern. He told them to call him ser because he has a long name that no one can pronounce  and he is always smoking a cigar so there is always a large cloud of smoke in front of his face so you can't see his face. the next day a bit after lunch was over a very rude man named Foreman Fluctano tripped Klaus and his glasses fell of and broke. Luckily there was an eye doctors office in the small town of paylteryville which of course is where Count Olaf jumps in. this time he has disguised himself as a women that works at the doctors office. he hypnotizes Klaus during his visit to the eye doctors. after that a day after Klaus's return to the factory he gets his memory back. the next day a terrible accident happens and Phil the nice man who showed them around broke his leg in one of the machines and Mr. Poe doesn't think its a suitable place for the children to live anymore however he doesn't have another Guardian for them to live with so they must live in a boarding school call Prufrock preparatory school. at the school there is a rotten nasty vice principal named vice principal Nero. He makes the kids watch his terrible Violin concerts and if the are late to one then they must buy a big bag of candy and watch him eat it. he makes sunny his assistant and puts Violet and Klaus into classes. there they meet Isadora and Duncan Quagmire. who by the way are triplets but there brother Quigly, perished in a fire that also killed there parents and destroyed there entire home as well. the Quagmires are just as intelligent as the Baudelaire and know exactly how they feel. But its not a happy ending yet since Count Olaf is back this time disguised as a gym teacher.  he makes the Baudelaire orphans run laps all night long. the Quagmires start to do a little family research on the Baudelaire's when they discover a secret organization named VFD. but they are captured by count Olaf just at the end when they are about to tell the Baudelaire's about it. Next Mr. Poe takes the Baudelaire's to live with family members who are very rich and live in the pent house suit of a tall building on 667 dark avenue. while they are there staying with Jerome and Esme Squalor they find out Esme is planning a very important auction and the auctioneer is Count Olaf in another disguise. they are then pushed down the elevator shaft by Esme and that is where they find the Quagmire triplets.  they are locked up in a large cage and tell the Baudelaire's that Count Olaf is planning on hiding them in one of the large auction items. the Baudelaire's then leave to go get something to burn the cage but when they return they cage is gone. there is however a small passage way which they follow to the end the beat on the roof and when a whole bunch of ashes fall and they see daylight coming out of some slits in the ceiling they open the hatch only to find themselves surrounded by the remaining ashes of there old home. they then go to the auction where they bid on an item that is a large box with the initials V.F.D. printed on it thinking that the Quagmire triplets are in there but instead they are in the item right after that which is a giant fish statue. count Olaf once again gets away but this time hes not alone he has his trusty evil girlfriend Esme Squalor. they children are then taken to another Guardian bu that is in the next book.

The series of Unfortunate Events By: Lemony Snicket: Part one (books 1-3)

The Series of Unfortunate Events By lemony Snicket is a 13 book series starts with book #1 The bad Beginning. Its starts with the Baudelaire children Violet (13), Klause (12), Sunny (2). One day there parents sent them to Briny beach. There they See a mysterious figure in the fog they then realize that it is a friend of they're parents Mr. Poe, He then gives the most terrible news in the world that their parents have perished in a fire that has destroyed their entire home. As I'm sure you know you have no idea how the Baudelaire orphans must feel right now unless you have lost someone very close to you. After staying with Mr. Poe, who is going to be taking care of there parents will and the enormous Baudelaire fortune that Violet will receive when she turns 18, he tells them that in there parents will say's they want them to live with the closest family member. Of course Mr.Poe thinks that means closest Geographically so he takes them to live with a man named Count Olaf who is either they're 4th cousin 3 times removed or there 3rd cousin 4 times removed. Count Olaf however lives in a very nice neighborhood next door to a very nice lady named Justice Strauss who is a Judge in the high court, however Count Olaf is not a very nice person. In fact Count Olaf wants to steal the Baudelaire fortune. After living with count Olaf for a few days he throws them up in the tower of his house and threatens to kill sunny by putting her in a cage and tries to marry violet in order to get a hold of the fortune. however his plan didn't work Mr. Poe showed up just in time to stop him but not capture him so he is now on the run. Mr. Poe then takes them to live with there Uncle Monty his real name is Montgomery Montgomery. Uncle Monty is a Herpetologist meaning his house has many snakes and lizards from all different countries. in fact he has in entire room in his house devoted to herpetology. And that's where the title the reptile room comes into the story. but even though the story seems much better so far don't be fooled and don't get excited because count Olaf has come up with another scheme to steal the fortune. he has disguised himself  as uncle Monty's new assistant he then kills uncle Monty making it look like the incredibly deadly viper did it. but the Baudelaire's know that can't be true because the incredibly deadly viper is really harmless in fact it is a rather friendly creature. when he tries to tell the police that he could be responsible for the children the children show them that hes count Olaf but he gets away again. Mr. Poe then tells the children that they will be staying with there aunt Josephine. However they're Aunt Josephine is afraid of everything. She won't answer the telephone because she thinks it will explode, she won't use the stove because she thinks it will burst into flames, she doesn't like to be in the kitchen because she thinks the fridge will fall flat on her and crush her like a pancake. however you can't blame her for some of her fears since her house is on stilts. Count Olaf once again shows up this time as the owner of a boat rental place. This time Count Olaf's plan is to make Aunt Josephine throw a Brick out the large window of her house and write a note to the Baudelaire's a note that says she threw herself out of the window and that she is leaving them in the hands of count Olaf. however Aunt Josephine's said that her greatest Joy in life is grammar so in her note she left many spelling mistakes as a clue to where she is hiding making out to be curdled cave the Baudelaire's set out on a small wooden boat to find her. when they do she mentions that she ate a banana not long ago and that is why the Lachrymose Leaches will be after them. when the leaches do come after them count Olaf shows up at the last minute to throw Aunt Josephine to the leaches. he once again gets away and the Baudelaire's are taken to yet another Guardian but that is in the next book.
